Mumu Words is a first-words app for babies and toddlers in bilingual, trilingual and multilingual families. It combines 140 illustrated cards, spoken words and a gentle listening game across 12 categories, from animals and food to letters and space.
Which languages are free?
English, Spanish and French are free. Mumu Words Pro adds Portuguese (Brazil), German, Italian, Mandarin Chinese (Simplified), Japanese and Korean. With Pro, parents choose up to three active languages for the child’s home screen.
Is Mumu Words really free?
Yes. The free app includes all 140 built-in cards in English, Spanish and French, Find It!, Bedtime Mode and up to three family-photo cards. Pro is an optional US$9.99 one-time in-app purchase with additional languages and family features. That is the US App Store price; prices vary by country, and your local price is shown before purchase. There is no subscription or account to create.
Can we use it without Wi-Fi?
Yes. Learning content, picture cards and family-created content work offline on your device. An internet connection is needed to download the app and to purchase or restore Pro through Apple.
How can preschool teachers and childcare teams use Mumu?
Try Mumu during adult-led picture naming, small-group listening or turn-taking with Find It! You can also create up to three free photo cards of familiar classroom objects, with your own labels and voice, on iPhone or iPad. Pro adds six more languages and unlimited custom cards. Are our family photos and recordings private?
Family photos, recordings and journal entries stay on your device. Mumu Words has no ads, accounts or third-party tracking. Settings and purchases are behind a parental gate. Read the app privacy policy for details.
Which devices can we use?
Mumu Words runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 17 or later, Apple TV with tvOS 17 or later, and an Apple Watch companion with watchOS 10 or later. The Watch companion includes English, Spanish and French. Family cards, the weekly deck and the journal are iPhone and iPad features. Check the App Store listing for current device compatibility and availability in your region.
How do we unlock Pro?
Download the free app, open the grown-ups area and complete the parental gate. You can see the local price and unlock Pro with a one-time purchase through Apple. Restore Purchases is available there too. Pro supports Apple Family Sharing.
